When I begin a design project I first decided upon a theme. The obvious theme of this page is 'Pop Art'. I would research the theme by looking in books, magazines, internet and photographs for relevant images, artists and colours. I would then produce several sheets drawn with a mix media which will give me ideas to design from. 

I would get ideas for 1 off prints and repeat patterns in various repeat forms.

This is another example of a starter sheet which aids in my design  thought process. This theme was based on my interpretation of ethnic, Indian and Chinese images.
