FAB Textiles |
This is a selection of Design sheets and Textile techniques on fabric that I have combined to create unique designs
|
The Inspiration for this design came from Rauschenbergs work. I spent a long time drawing money, notes and coins in fine detail and transferring them onto a silk screen. The background was dyed grey to begin with and then discharge paint was sqeegeed through the screen. This causes a bleached effect which takes the dye out of the fabric. Black fabric paint was then pulled through screen. I slightly moved the screen out of line and printed again to cause an overlap in the print.

| This
design was inspired by Flower Fairy's. It is a screen printed fairy
image that has been printed onto PVC clear plastic.
First I mixed Turquoise and Black fabric paint into PVA glue, carefully blending the colours in the middle. The print was put on in silver when the paint was dry.

| This
idea was inspired by Andy Warhol's 'Doller note' print and work by
Rauschenberg. I combined their ideas to create my own unique £20 note.
Again I used a screen print to put the initial black design down. I then worked back into it with paints and pens to add detail.

| This
design is a very tactile piece. and was inspired by Chinese
lanterns.
The background colour was painted using vivid procion dyes and the lanterns were then screen printed on-top in black. Coloured threads were used with machine embroidery to add the detail to the lanterns and make this a tactile design.

| This is a design from the same collection as above. This was produced using layered fabric, Machine embroidery, fabric paints/pens and cut work. The design was carefully cut to reveal different layers of coloured fabrics. |
