Sewing Machines Contents Page
In my school we have several different styles of Sewing machines that have been bought through the years. The older of the machines are a lot heavier to transport than the newer models because of the materials they were made from. The older machines were made using more metal where the newer models are more plastic coated and much lighter, safer for children to be carrying.
Each machine is bought with some form of cover whether it be a plastic hood or a hard hood that can be locked on its sides, each to protect the machines. They also come with an instruction manual and may have several little components such as a screw driver, spools, spare needles and foots.
Each machine will have different advantages and will be basic or advanced. This means it may be able to do more decorative stitches, it may be electronic or computer controlled. The more advanced the higher the price.
The computer embroidery machines are used to put logos/images /text onto fabric. They can be used as a stand alone sewing machine or by the use of a memory card which transfers your designs from computer to machine.
Sewing machines may look really confusing when you first sit in front of one. Where does the cotton real sit? How do you thread it? how do you make it work. All I can say is practice makes perfect. Just remember the harder you put your foot down the faster it goes. So soft=slow
